The Light Rail Transit (LRT)

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) opened its Roosevelt Station in Munoz Quezon City along EDSA on October 22, 2010 for commuters.  The station will serve commuters living in areas near Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City, particularly in Munoz, Project 6 and Project 8 areas.

The new LRT-MRT station is the second part of LRT 1 three-part North Extension Project. In March, the LRT 1 Balintawak station was opened, extending the train line by 2.2 kilometers.

With the opening of the Roosevelt Station, only the LRT Station on North Avenue near SM North EDSA and trinoma will have to be completed to finish the LRT-MRT loop.

LRTA also added two new trains to serve additional passengers, as a result of the opening of the LRT Munoz station.  Passengers from Baclaran going to Roosevelt station will pay a one-way fare of P20 for a trip of about 30 minutes or longer.

It is expected that the new station would add around 3,000 passengers coming from Muñoz, Project 6 and Project 8.  There are already 500,000 passengers using the LRT Line 1 each day.
