Land formations are categorized according to shape, elevation, slope, and landscape.  

The different types of land forms include plains, hills, valleys, plateaus, and mountains.

Mountains are high-elevation areas with a peak while plans are low-level areas with a flat slope.  Plateaus are large highland flat areas separated from the surrounding areas by a steep slope.  Valleys are flat areas surrounded by hills or mountains.
