As of July 2010, SM City North EDSA, at the intersection of EDSA and North Avenue in Quezon City, remains the largest and busiest shopping mall in the world, in terms of foot traffic and number of establishments in operation.

This mall is so huge the whole complex cannot be contained in a single photo.  It has a retail space of over 460,000 square meters.  It is also the world's second largest, in terms of gross leasable area, behind South China Mall.

But in terms of foot traffic and occupancy rate, it is probably the world's largest, easily beating the South China Mall and the Dubai mall, which is known as the world's largest in terms of total floor area.

SM City has over 95 percent occupancy rate, as against New South China Mall's (600,000 sqm) less than 50 percent.  This makes SM City North EDSA the world's largest shopping mall full with tenants and shoppers.

It can park 10,000 cars. The mall attracts almost 4.4 million visitors on weekends and 1,000,000 to 2,100,000 visitors on weekdays.  It can contain up to 6.6 million people.  Another building has just been completed, so these figures can be adjusted upward.

SM City has over 1100 shops and stores and services including 400 restaurants. It is composed of several buildings: which include 4 floors  of the city center, 5 floors (The Block), 6 floors (SM Annex), SM Parking (5 floors), and a new building (BPO center).  Two residential buildings are also under construction, with elevated pathway to the mall.

The next two largest are the SM Mall of Asia (407,100 sqm), and SM Megamall (346,700 sqm).  They are followed by SM Cebu (268,600 sqm), SM City Southmall in Las Pinas (205,120 sqm) and SM City Fairview (182,700 sqm).

Just across the SM City North EDSA in Quezon City is another large shopping mall, Trinoma, of the Ayala Corp., with a retail floor area of 195,000 square meters with 550 shops and restaurants. It has a parking space for 8,000 vehicles.

Aside from Trinoma, Ayala Corp. operates the two largest shopping malls in Makati: Glorietta and Greenbelt.  Glorietta at the Ayala Center has 250,000 square meters of retail floor area with over 500 shops and restaurants.  It can park more than 2,000 cars.  However, it is also under renovation.

The Greenbelt complex, also of the Ayala Corp. in Makati, has a total retail floor area of 250,000 square meters, with over 300 shops and restaurants.  It is composed of five buildings.

Meanwhile, the two largest Robinsons shopping malls are those located in Malate and Ortigas.  Robinsons Place Manila, located in the Malate-Ermita  district, has 240,000 square meters of retail space, making it the largest in the country outside the SM chain.  It has seven floors with over 500 stores, shops, and restaurants.  It has parking space for 1,000 vehicles.

Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas has 216,000 square meters of retail space, but it is undergoing renovation.
