Tani Gorre Cantil-Sakauye, a Filipino-American woman, won as the new Chief Justice of California Supreme Court, after getting 67 percent of the votes in the recent election.  She will begin her term in January 2011 as the first California chief justice with Asian roots.

Meanwhile, a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer said three Filipino-Americans were reelected as major in different cities in California.  They Mayor Cristopher Cabaldon of West Sacramento, Mayor Pete Sanchez of Suisun City in Solano County, and Mayor Jose Esteves of Milpitas.
